Family divided by force

Edmond Danushi, 30, married with a British woman, has four children and he hasn’t still seen his 10-month-old daughter.

After living in Britain for 12 years, he was asked to go to Tirana and complete some documents, but the Ministry of Interior and Immigration in Britain rejected his request for family reunion, according to Daily Mail.

A law that entered in force recently says that British citizens who want to bring their partners to Britain need a certain amount of savings, and Danushi’s British wife, Theresa, needs to prove that she has more than 18.000 pounds. Meanwhile, Edmond has lost his job because he remained in Albania.

Danushi was 18 when he went to Britain and married Theresa, with whom he had four children after 10 years of marriage. Danushi says that he has not seen yet his younger 10-month-old daughter, and he is obliged to speak each day on Skype with his family. His young son cannot speak to him on Skype because he gets emotional for not having his father near him.

“No one understand what I am going through. I wasn’t there when my daughter was born and I am unable to keep her in my arms”, he declared.

The British press says that Danushi’s wife talks about the difficulties she has with his absence, and that with the help of the Parliament Member of her area, Heidi Alexander, she is appealing to continue her case in the highest instances. A spokesperson of Home Office declared that Danushi’s applicationhas been rejected because he doesn’t fulfill the immigration criteria. “His family life should not be paid by the taxpayers”, the Spokesperson says.

An appeal session for the rejection of the Interior Ministry has been appointed for February 2014, and at least until then Edmond Danushi will be forced to stay far from his four children just because he wants to live by respecting the law, while many others of every nationality enter without respecting any.
