The Albanian government owes 200 million EUR to private businesses for
public works that they have concluded. To this list are added the
companies that have completed works after being contracted by state
institutions.
“The budget owes a considerable amount of money to the private companies, which reaches 200 million EUR. But another negative phenomenon is that there are 660 service companies that operate, and that are penalized in the direct income payment and VAT”, declared Nikolin Jaka, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
This situation puts business in a deep collapse and gives a chain effect in the increase of unemployment. In these conditions, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry demands the compensation of these obligations through the suspension of tax obligations.
“Interventions with legal acts that enable compensation or suspension of the payment terms for obligations such as VAT and income tax, for all private companies, when the government owes them more than what the companies have paid”, Jaka declared.
Another request of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the application of the Law for Capital Legalization, and pardoning part of the customs and tax debt for 2011-2012, including the reduced fees for the legalization of assets, according to the propositions of the chamber of commerce. Business also asked a legal framework for punishing the public administration employees who violate the confidentiality of voluntary declarations.
