The Albanian Constitutional Court today partially accepted the request ror review of the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha.
It decided to return the passport to the former prime minister, repealing the measure of banning travel abroad, but regarding the request to overturn the measure of obligation to appear at SPAK, the Constitutional Court called it legal.
The measure of house arrest, where Berisha is currently held, was not subject to review by the Constitutional Court so it remains in force.
Berisha has appealed the first measure, the obligation to appear on October 21, 2023, which was later turned by the special court into a coercive measure of “house arrest”.
Berisha considered the decision unconstitutional, since according to him, permission was not obtained from Parliament for the imposition of the measure.
Tonight he considered the decision an ‘unconstitutional’ action, while emphasizing that his battle does not stop here, but continues in the Strasbourg Court.
Among other things, Berisha said: “The President of the Anti-Constitutional Court gave a shameful decision, a decision that proves the lowest level of judgment and responsibility. A decision equal to a ‘court of fact’. A decision that declares the Constitutional Court unconstitutional and unconstitutional. Once again, friends, I feel proud that I defended the Constitution, I stood against the coup of handful of villains in the criminal organization of the ‘special court’, and of the judge with 5 surnames made to the parliament.”
