With a 17 million EUR investment loaned by the Italian Government, the Transmission System Operator has implemented a modern techology that realized the national energy system in real time, synchronizing it this way with the standards required by the European Union.
This was a good case for Prime Minister Berisha to mention that his government has kept the promise of providing normal supply to the Albanian citizens by ending the time when Albania had electricity for less than half of the day. Berisha focused on the energy prices by underlining that the government did not allow the price to increase in four years, but subventioned the Albanian Power Corporation and created many other facilities to the Czech Company, despite their poor management, as Berisha considered it.
“We didn’t allow price increases for the Albanian citizens, because we are in a difficult time. And we still support our small power companies in defense of the consumer, but in an honest way, because the political will is that the Albanian citizens should live without energy problems”, Berisha declared.
By valuing the hydropower construction concessions as vital for a stable development of the country, Berisha commented the stance of the Socialist Party, which focuses on canceling what they consider corruptive concessions.
“I think that the idea to create special offices to review the concessions that were voted in Parliament are merely ridiculous”, Berisha declared.
According to The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, the investments in energy have reduced the technical losses in the market, made possible by 770 million EUR that have been used in these four years to improve the Albanian network. Berisha says that the construction of the Trans-Adriatic project will make a radical change, turning Albania into a strategic gas supplier in Western Europe, making direct profits for the Albanian citizens.
“This is an extraordinarily important project that will enable the Albanian citizens have better prices for cooking and heating”, Berisha declared.
