The Democratic Party held its convention today at the Palace of
Congresses in Tirana, where they unfolded their program for a third
mandate.
Berisha mentioned education, health, infrastructure, fiscal system and the reforms undertaken by his government in these sectors.
“Dozens of thousands of Albanians are getting diplomas today in European and other international universities. Education and knowledge are the biggest passion of the Albanian youth, and we stay determined to do everything possible for better and more qualitative schools of Albanians in all levels. The knowledge race is the race of all races, and the Albanians will win it. We have rebuilt 1300 schools and will rebuilt every other school. In only a few years we built more than 11.000 kilometers of roads throughout Albania”, Berisha declared.
Berisha accused the Socialist Party leader, Edi Rama, of lying the Albanians when mentioning the numbers for the built roads.
“I have two words for you: In Shkoder you said to the citizens that only 600 kilometers of roads have been built, and when Shkoder laughed at you, and told you that from the Drin Bridge in Fierza,to Vermosh and Puka, there are hundreds of kilometers of roads. But you invented the other number from your bus, 1500 kilometers of roads. Poor pathetic man who knows nothing from state affairs. You have been a mayor, you failed painter, and left 250 kilometers of unpaved roads in your city. Know this… every road is built with a project, and every project is voted with a fund, and only the Albanian Development fund has built 1520 kilometers of roads with 320 million USD. You suffer from roadophobia. I thought to invite you and inaugurate roads with me, but your cure is not this, but that bus. Keep staying in your bus, and we will keep building roads”, Berisha declared.
Berisha promised that in the next four years they will attract the most powerful foreign investors.
“With our fiscal policies we will turn Albania into the most attractive country for foreign investors in the region and wider. In the four upcoming years we will bring the giants of high-tech and car production with fiscal policies like five years of zero taxes”, he declared.
Topalli: 250.000 jobs in the next mandate
The Parliament Speaker and vice leader of the Democratic Party, Jozefina Topalli, listed the reforms undertaken by this government that according to her placed Albania closer to the European Union integration.
“We started the European Union accession process and we have fulfilled all integration requests, besides the three laws for which only three seconds were needed, and the country would take the candidate status. Nothing will bring more profits for Albania then entering the European Union. Only the candidate status would have brought hundreds of millions in investments”, Topalli declared.
The Parliament Speaker listed some of the main investments of this majority in the past eight years, focusing on agriculture, tourism and business.
“We have invested in 48.000 agricultural projects. We will increase employment. We increased businesses by favoring them. We developed the processing and tourism industries”, she said.
As for the economic situation, Topalli mentioned some evaluations of international institutions. According to her, Albania is the only Balkan country that had a decreased unemployment rate last year, and promised that the Democratic Party will open 250.000 new jobs in the next mandate.
“The World Bank considered this as the economy with the highest economic growth in Europe. Albania is the only Balkan country that had decreased unemployment. But we know that this is not enough and that our country needs more. We will do more, and the Democratic Party promises to create 250.000 new jobs in the next mandate”, Topalli declared.
