The Socialist Party candidate in Peqin, Alfred Peza, says that the state
has been mobilized with all of its forces to cover its electoral
activity.
Peza declared that the army vehicles are being used for the electoral campaign, such as paving roads at the Perparim commune, in Peqin. His electoral headquarters photographed the military vehicles while working. Peza declared that this involvement of the army is a violation of decision no.1 dated 21 June 2006, for reducing the exploitation of riverbeds”, and also a violation of the Electoral Code, which bans the usage of the army for electoral campaigns.
Peza quoted Berisha’s declaration to not use the government vehicles for the campaign. He reminded the Prime Minister that the army, as part of the NATO, is depolitized and should be activated only in case of natural disasters and civil emergencies.
Top Channel asked the Minister of Defense, Arben Imami, for the usage of the military in the electoral campaign.
“The military throughout Albania, regardless their political views, have worked and will work for the community, as always”, Imami declared.
