100th anniversary of Albanian Post

The first Albanian post stamp was created a few months after the
declaration of independence, and was followed by thousands of others
during the decades, generating interest on many philatelists from
Albania and abroad.

The The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, together with the General Post Director, Arqile Gorea, visited the exhibition “100 years of Albanian post”, where the most valuable stamps were put on display.

“After the government stamp, the post stamp was the second de facto and de juro stamp of the new Albanian state, and during these 100 years it has reflected the official Albania and not only that. In 100 years, the post stamp has become a spokesperson for different areas of Albania’s life”, Berisha declared.

On the 100th anniversary of the creation of the first Albanian stamp, the Prime Minister mentioned the complete transformation of the post office during these eight years, reflecting the modern development of our country.

“The efficient administration and the dedication of the post office employees; the support of the government to an already degraded service that was creating a distance from the citizens, has turned this institution into one of the best services that is offered to our citizens; one of the fastest and most serious services, with the highest modern technology”, Berisha declared.

Mr.Gorea gave to the Prime Minister the first post stamp of the Albanian state, as sign of gratitude for the support in modernizing the postal service in our country.
