Observing chimpanzees in Kibale Forest was a challenge. They were high up in the trees or moving fast across the forest floor. Following them it was a matter of shooting fast when they sat down for a moment. This chimpanzee then took a pose which struck me as very human, showing just how closely related we are. The forest made for a cluttered background which shooting through foliage eliminated. Photographing through the green, this thinking pose of the chimpanzee made him look very human.
