With more than 9000 4-year-old court cases yet to be reviewed, the
President of the Supreme Court, Xhezair Zaganjori, raised the alarm for
trial delays.
“According to the progress report, these problems are still a concern, such as the quality of decisions, the court delays and especially the unnecessary delay of the normal procedures. Other problems are the implementation of final court decisions and solemnity”, Zaganjori declared.
For the other Supreme Court member, Ardian Dvorani, the solution can only be found in the law regulation. He also expressed his stance about the suggestion made by the Albanian President, Bujar Nishani, who said that for every case we need to address to the Supreme Court.
“Whatever the solution, I’m part of those legal experts who have assessed that we cannot overlook that the guaranteeing and respecting of the right to be heard by the Court, and the heavy workload should be only our concern”, Dvorani declared.
Dvorani also spoke openly for the selection of the future judges.
“The selection of the future judges should be more careful. The candidate needs a social and psychological formation, special abilities and should be able to face the work stress. The candidates should be able to handle the temptation of irregular richness, and should stand strong against the pressures that could come from all sides. That’s why we need a candidate that can give justice”, Dvorani declared.
These declarations were given during a meeting with the students of the Supreme Court, on the 100th anniversary of the creation of the Albanian judiciary system.
