The Prosecution of Tirana has closed the investigation for the virgin petroleum scandal and sent the case to court. Germany, in the meantime, arrested the 52-year-old Adrian Xhillari for extradition to Germany.
Xhillari was arrested in Frankfurt after a cooperation between Interpol Tirana and Interpol Wiesbaden in Germany. Interpol Tirana had issued an international arrest order for smuggling of excise-paying goods.
During 2015, Xhillari, administrator of the Tea Construction&Petrol sh.a, had realized the fictive transportation of 4.4 million liters of virgin petroleum, causing huge damage to the state budget.
The Prosecution has demanded 15 years in prison for 2 million EUR damage caused to the state budget.
