The Mayor of Kamza, Xhelal Mziu, appeared today at court for the hearing
session. The Prosecution charged him of violating the tender equality
for the construction of a road and for power abuse.
The Tirana Prosecution accused Mziu of three other violations that are related with arbitrary tax establishment and for damaging the Kamza football field.
According to the Prosecution, the Mayor of Kamza has qualified one company as winner for the construction of the Valias-Laknas road, regardless of the tender results. Prosecutor Antonela Sevdary presented the evidence and the taxes that are considered abusive against two companies, although there was a court verdict that had considered the tax as illegal. The Municipality continued to implement it against the companies Alba Via and Gjoka.
During the session that was held behind closed doors, the Mayor told Judge Marinela Osmani that he has nothing to do with the charges. The judge left Mziu in prison. He was applauded by his relatives and Kamza Municipality residents.
