The fight against organized crime is one of the conditions that the CDU/CSU Parliamentary group of Germany has given Albania before opening the EU accession talks.
The former military attaché of Albanai in Germany, Sander Lleshi, besides having a clean name, has another advantage when compared to former Minister Xhafaj: he knows German and he knows Germany.
The rapporteur of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group for Albania, Thorsten Frei, said that Xhafaj’s resignation was positive, and he expects more from his successor.
Frei declared for Deutsche Welle that Albania needs to do more with the fight against organized crime in order to start the accession negotiations.
Despite his good job, Germany had reserves about Xhafaj’s figure, due to the connections of his brother with organized crime.
