World Bank supports Albania with 1.2 billion USD loan in next 5 years

The World Bank will give 1.2 billion USD of loans to Albania for the
next five years. The package passed by the executive board is part of a
new five year plan of cooperation between Albania and this institution.

The Bank says that the funds will support Albania’s aspirations for a constant economic growth and EU integration. The announcement sayd that the board of Directors has welcomed the progress that Albania had so far with the fiscal and structural reforms, and recognized the strong commitment of the government.

The Bank says that the package will support the reforms in three main areas, fiscal stability, encouragement of the private sector and reinforcement of the public sector.

After the approval of the package, the Director of the Bank of Albania for the region, Elen Goldstein, declared that Albania has a historic chance to leave the past and accelerate with the economic progress and its integration in the EU.
