World Bank director, Ksenyia Lvovski, recommends the Albanian government to be cautious with the Fiscal Amnesty and avoid transmitting to the public the image of a weak state.

“The way in which this amnesty will be implemented is essential. The crucial thing on processes of this kind is transparency, not only for those who get pardoned, but even for those who get excluded. It is also important to minimize the moral risks. Fiscal amnesty should not transmit to the public the message that people and businesses can make mistakes, can infringe the law and not be punished. In order to avoid this, the government must take measures so that this behavior does not repeat itself. And that if it happens, they will be punished”, Lvovski declared.

These declarations were given on a press conference, when lvovski announced World Bank new project’s in Albania, the latest of which is a 25 million Euros loan on dam security.

Mrs. Lvovski also announced that the World Bank has selected Albania as the first country in Europe and Asia to test the electronic procurements of WB projects, considering this as an important achievement for Albania.
