The Minister of Transports, Sokol Olldashi, inspected the works of the
Elbasan-Tirane tunnel, the greatest current public investment financed by the
government.
“The works in the Tirane-Elbasan tunnel have advanced, in the greatest infrastructure project that is currently continuing in our country. The construction of the roads that lead to the digging points of the mountain have continued regularly”, Olldashi declared.
Mr. Olldashi added that the fast pace of the works will make the tunnel to be finished before the predicted deadline.
“We are in full accordance with the schedule of the Company, as specified in the contract with the Directory of Roads. Chances are that the tunnel will be ready by the beginning of 2013”, Olldashi declared.
The works in the tunnel are being made by a Greek company that was declared winner in a tender after offering to build it for 8.3 billion ALL. In total, the road that will connect Tirana with Elbasan will cost 380 million EUR.
