Two workers fell from the eighth floor of a building this Monday, and
both of them died. Two others were seriously put in danger, because they
were working without any security measures. The improvised scaffolds
fell and the result was tragic.
The apartment owner had taken a group of four people for the works, people who everyday look for any kind of job that can make them push the day. The “Unknown Partisan” area is the square where unemployed workers gather in Tirana. They are ready to do any kind of tasks, just for a few days of work.
One of the victims was even difficult to get identified, since most of them work temporarily and their names are not known. One single day of work means a lot to them, since it’s their only means to survive. It doesn’t matter for them if they are insured or not.
This contingent also supplies workers for the construction companies that are on top of the list for work accidents. The families of victims receive only the funeral payment as recompensation.
