Women oil workers end hunger strike after promise of afternoon meeting with PM Rama
After 26 days, the oil women have decided to end their hunger strike today after the promise of a meeting with prime minister Edi Rama on their problems and requests.
This was announced yesterday when the head of the oil workers’ union said that he hopes that the meeting with the prime minister will be the end of all the problems for about 900 employees of the oil refinery in Ballsh.
“The decision was made a little while ago by oil workers and women participating in the hunger strike.
Tomorrow they will end the strike, in the hope that a solution will be found for the arears wages.
“Otherwise, they will return to the strike and the protests will continue”, said yesterday, Sokol Dautaj, the head of the Oilmen’s Union.
This afternoon, the Prime Minister has confirmed that he will hold a meeting with a representative of the protesting oil workers and members of the hunger strike.
