On International Women’s Day, the American ambassador in Tirana, Yuri Kim, gave a congratulatory message, along with an appeal to Albanian girls and women.
In her awareness message she was joined by the ambassador of Greece in Tirana, the ambassador of Sweden, the ambassador of France, Israel, Switzerland, Poland, and the UN coordinator in Albania.
“Today on International Women’s Day, we women ambassadors honor those who fought for the women’s right to vote. We call on women to vote in the upcoming local elections on May 14. Make your vote count for better local services,” the video message says.
Ambassador Kim along with the Commander of the New Jersey National Guard, Lisa Hou discussed the empowerment of women and their participation in the priority sectors of defense.
“Security in Europe is not a women’s issue, but it also includes women. These moments we are facing critical challenges. It has been 1 year since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. We in the US believe that our children should live in a free, safe and prosperous world,” said Kim.
“We are proud to have a country like Albania in NATO and we are also proud to see you making progress towards EU membership,” she added.
