The OSCE Ambassador in Tirana, Eugen Wollfarth, declared that the
Central Election Commission needs to be complete in order to have
successful elections. He declared that this is a strong appeal to both
political camps.
“The elections are set for June 23rd, but democratic rules should be respected in order to have successful elections”, Wollfarth declared.
“The OSCE General Secretary reiterated that a dialogue and interaction between the political parties is needed to increase the credibility and legitimacy of the Central Election Commission. This is needed for good elections and a good electoral process. This is a strong appeal for both political parties, which do what is needed to guarantee a good electoral process with everyone involved. It is very important for the government, the majority, to keep going forward and create an environment that will allow further steps, same as it is important for the opposition to provide a constructive part of this dialogue, in order to fulfil the Central Election Commission membership. This is a very necessary interaction. The elections are set for June 23rd. All democratic rules should be respected so that they can be functional and legitimized. Allow me to reiterate that you need to work to increase the credibility and legitimacy of the Central Election Commission. It can work as it is, but more is needed and for this we need the positive interaction of the political parties”, Wollfarth declared.
