“ICTS Media” organized the second “Albanian ICT Awards”. Albanians from
the entire region competed in this event. The information and
communication technology awards for 2013 were divided in five
categories.

“ICT Innovation of the year”, won by Todi Thanasi from Albania
“ICT Academic of the Year”, given from the Dritan Hoxha Foundation, won Kozeta Sevrani from Albania
“ICT mobility of the year”, Mentor Paçarada from Kosovo,
“ICT Diploma of the Year”, Lum Zhaveli from Kosovo.
“ICT Rising star of the year” won by Evis hoxha, from Albania. This award was handed over by the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama. Making an analogy with the French revolution, he underlined the importance of development in this area, and appreciated the event.

“Developments in technology, and especially the information and communication technologies, are a transforming revolution for our society. This activity is very important and the work done by Albanian ICT Awards makes an investment for this revolution, so that we can talk to the future with courage there where other see the present, and to remind the entire Albanian sphere that revolution is a basic value of a new time of communication, and that the world today is just a global village”, Rama declared.

“In this activity that includes innovation too, the Prime Minister remembered the innovator of the Albanian media technology, the founder of Top Media, Dritan Hoxha.

“I was reminded of Dritan Hoxha, who is the most excellent incarnation in our lives as we are living it in the Albanian sphere, as the speaker who opened the ceremony said: big innovators are born and grown in garages, referring to Steve Jobs. And not only. Albania, Kosovo and the entire Albanian sphere, is not disadvantaged as regards innovation. It would have been wonderful if Dritan Hoxha was here today, to see that on the foundations that he built, there where no one could imagine that there was a foundation, there are others who day after day, in different areas of the information and technology world, are creating new products. It is not utopia to believe that among these others there are products as impressive as that of the digital product of Dritan Hoxha, which could be known even beyond the Albanian sphere”, Rama declared.

The Prime Minister congratulated the organizers of the activity and said that they show that the other Albania, referring to the term used by Dritero Agolli for Kosovo, is growing united in the international network of ICT awards. He proposed that another award should be the one given by the Prime Ministry for the ICT Woman of the Year.

The Dritan Hoxha foundation has supported this pan-national initiative for the second year in a row, and valued the importance of ICT in every field of life.

Vjollca Dako, Director of the Media Foundation “Dritan Hoxha”: “While the fast technological development crosses the borders of what could make our lives easier, when communication knows no more borders in space and time, the Albanian youth, and not only them, run to catch the pace of time, as in every other country of the world. The organization of this event shows this very well”.

Kushtrim Sala, co-founder of ICT Media: “He is not only a sponsor, but a strategic supporter of Albanian ICT Awards. We, as organizers, have thought since the first day of the creation of this event, to connect it with a character that had values for the entire nation. If there would be a second Jeronim De Rada, he would be Dritan Hoxha.

There were 51 competitors from Albania and Kosovo, who presented their platforms in the ICT field.
