The electoral fever has also gripped the Bank of Albania. On October, the
Parliament is expected to elect the new governor that will lead the
central bank, one of most important constitutional institutions in our
country, for the next 7 years.

The current governor, Ardian Fullani has not hidden his ambition for keeping the reins of this institution for a second mandate.

“Everyone likes to take his challenges to the end. One of most successful US Presidents has said that there is no limit to what a man can do or where he can go if his work is an additional contribute to the society, no matter who gets the credit”, Fullani declared.

IMF and the other institutions that supervise the Albanian economy have always appealed that the mandate of the head of the Albanian Bank should derive from a wide public debate, and not through nontransparent agreements from political groups of the ruling party.

The public needs to know the candidate before he is chosen. The Governor Fullani said that he sees as an advantage for his reelection the transparency that this institution has had under his watch, not hiding the confidence that he will be reelected.

“My stance and that of Bank of Albania, the open and consistent communication gives me optimism for taking this challenge to the end. Albania has all possibilities for becoming an additional value to Europe in the future”, Fullani added.

Unofficial voices have mentioned as possible choices two ministers of the current Berisha cabinet, but there is no surprise to have the name of a female candidate.
