Crown Agents is one of the biggest international companies in the area
of economic and financial consulting. They are currently working in 100
countries, where they advice governments and well known international
organizations in the practices of well governing and building
institutional capacities.
A few days ago, the Albanian government decided to give to this company the service to assist the Albanian customs. A decision that has heated the political debate.
One day ago, the Democratic Party Parliament Member, Sali Berisha, attacked the government about this decision and also the company, saying on his Facebook profile that it was an agency put on the black list of the World Bank.
In fact, the British Company has been on the black list of the World Bank in 2011 for six months. It was about a project of 2006, and the investigations showed that Crown Agents had presented a bad evaluation for one of the most important consultants of the project.
The name of the project and that of the consultant were never discovered. But the World Bank decided to put the company on the black list, stopping it from taking their tenders for six months.
This punishment ended and Crown Agents have returned to their business with the World Bank and not only with this institution. This company today advises governments of the biggest countries in the world.
Among their client list is also the American government, more specifically the State Department, the Department of Defense, the Department of Trade, USAID and the Millennium Corporation. In parallel, the company advises the European Union and many well known international organisms.
