What will happen with the Dajti case?

The Dritan Dajti trial failed once again, regardless of the court
requests for finding a lawyer that will defend the most important case
of the Serious Crimes.

The recent request has been sent from the Court of Serious Crimes to the National Chamber of Advocacy, the Minister of Justice and the High Council of Justice, and chances are there will be no answers again.

The Court of Serious Crimes replied to the rejection of the Advocacy Chamber, which last week didn’t want to find a lawyer for Dajti, with the argument that tis is a case that belongs to the judiciary and that the Chamber has already made available to the court a list with the names of lawyers.

The document says that this answer is not correct and doesn’t fulfill the legal obligations, since it is this council that needs to appoint a lawyer when the defendant is abandoned.

The document says that although it is true that the lists of the advocacy community have been sent in the beginning of each year, they weren’t enough and these problems were never resolved by the Chamber of Advocacy.

Lawyers have never had the addresses of the office, so that they could realize their procedural announcement and in many cases, the telephone number of lawyers has been incorrect. In some cases in 2012, it appeared that one of the lawyers had died three years before.

But referring to these lists, the document says, it has happened that they had names of people who had left the proefssion a long time ago. No justice official knows today what will become with this process.
