What now, after Dibra? Analysts comment the race and results

Beyond the rhetoric for vote purchases, the deep loss of the Democratic
Party in Dibra increases dilemmas for the new model of Lulzim Basha as a
government alternative. Analysts are divided on this, but they say that
the victory of Muharrem Rama must make parties reflect on how they
chose their candidates.

Preç Zogaj: The only explanation, in my opinion, is that this result was mostly created on discussion tables than on terrain. This is an electoral engineering, or electoral calculation. I don’t think there is another explanation.

Arjan Vasjari: The vote in Dibra was political, as Mr.Basha wanted it. If we make a resume in a single sentence, I think that the political model of the opposition was just rejected in Dibra, the political model of Mr.Basha.

Preç Zogaj: He uncovered a new element of election manipulation in Albania, which is the traditional one. We saw how drug ties ruined the elections.

Arjan Vasjari: Institutions conduct war against drug. We can criticize institutions, but inviting the electorate to fight the drug cartels is very ridiculous. The warning is very clear from Dibra. If the DP doesn’t make a radical change, they will lose once again in the next elections.

Preç Zogaj: I don’t use it as an alibi, because I know that this is not the only way towards change. This cause is not only of the opposition. The opposition cannot seek it only on drugs. They must liberate the elections.
