The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, explained to ambassadors
during a working lunch that the opposition has no intentions to tolerate
Prime Minister Rama and the Parliament Speaker in what the Democrats
consider a plan for capturing the state and silencing the opposition.

Making it clear that the opposition has no intentions to change its boycott to the Parliament, Basha has asked the representatives of the diplomatic body to react against this behavior of the government.

“This government feels it doesn’t have to answer in front of the Constitution, Courts or the Parliament. They feel they can continue their oligarchic orgy by destroying the foundations of democracy and the rule of law. They feel they can rule a country and make the opposition redundant. These are all a direct product of a government that doesn’t listen, doesn’t see and doesn’t answer”, Basha declared.

According to the DP leader, the government will not be able to hide behind the propaganda with the citizens and international partners.

“The opposition cannot accept this situation, let alone collaborate and become a decor of the Rama-Meta oligarchy”, Basha added.

When asked by journalists if they have support from ambassadors for their Parliamentary boycott, Basha answered:

“We had a long and detailed talk with the ambassadors about this issue, and we have talked in the past and as we will talk in the future. Our duty as an opposition, the mission trusted by the Albanian citizens on June 23rd, is the same mission that the Democratic Party had the day it was born: protecting the pillars of democracy and the parliamentary life, as the heart of democracy and sovereignty the people have over the government, not vice versa, are worthy of every battle and we are ready for every battle”, Basha concluded.
