Although the attention for the negative ranking of Albania was focused
on the construction permits, another bad element for Albania is the tax
payment. Albania is ranked 142th in 189 world countries, leaving behind
only Bosnia from the countries of the region.
The World Bank notes that this negative ranking comes as result of the high number of payments, of the tax burden too. The final report of “Doing Business” says that a business in Albania ahs to make 34 payments a year for taxes and spend 357 hours to complete them.
Besides bureaucratic procedures, the World Bank says that during the last year, the tax indicator deteriorated for Albania. The World Bank notes that Albania made it more difficult for companies to pay taxes, due to the higher tax on profit, which is the hgihest in the region.
