The World Bank has improved its prediction for the Albanian economy from 3.6% to 4%. According to the World Bank, the cause of the improvement is the energy sector. The Bank considers the Eurobond a success.
The Chief Economist of the Bank said that energy has made half of the growth for the first semester, growing faster than expected.
The World Bank also stated today that the reforms undertaken by the Albanian government for economic growth have given positive results. They supported the 5 year Eurobond of €500 mln, with a 3.55% interest rate.
WB representative, Maryam Sali, said that this is a very good move in the money market and that the WB is cooperating with the government to progress with other reforms.
The Albanian WB representative, Hilda Shijaku, said that this operation goes in full accordance with the debt management strategy.
“The involvement in foreign markets exposes Albania to other countries. The issued Eurobond shows that the markets have confidence.”
The World Bank published today the report “Progress and Economic Movement for all World Generations”, in which it states that Albania is among the leading countries of the region on this matter, with 50% of young citizens having higher economic aspirations than their parents.
The WB reports suggest that local policies and national actions could help to break the poverty cycle, allowing the next generation to realize their potential and improve their lives.
