In an interview for Deutsche Welle, the Director of the World Bank in
Albania, Kseniya Lvovsky, declared that great challenges are waiting for
the new government in Albania, since the economic situation in our
country is not good.
She declared that a priority for the new government should be the war against corruption and the increased trust of citizens on state institutions, such as Institution of Statistics. Mr.Lvovski declared that the new government should find new economic growth agents and create new jobs, something that will have to be done in an environment with domestic and foreign difficulties.
“We have a new government that has promised to continue with its agenda and bring Albania closer to the European Union, economically and politically, but no one can expect miracles. All parties must contribute and the new government must work hard. The businesses and citizens must give their contribution by paying taxes and showing zero tolerance to fiscal evasion”, declared the World Bank director in Albania.
As regards the economic effects of the crisis in Albania, Mrs.Lvovski declared that it can bee seen best in the increased unemployment especially among the youth, and a deterioration in the poverty reduction indicators.
