The World Bank approved a 150 million USD loan that will be used for the energy system that is now in crisis.
The Deputy Minister of Energy, Ilir Beqja, declared that more 90 million USD will be invested in the Distribution system, where there have been no investments for years.
“The investments will be for the energy measurement, with 300.000 new meters; with the Distribution Network, installments that reduce the illegal interventions from those who steal energy; the third case is the management of this system”, Bejtja declared.
The rest of the loan, according to Minister Bejtja, is a fund that will be given by the Energy Corporation for buying energy case of emergency.
Deputy Minister Bejtja said that this loan allows Distribution and Transmission operators that will focus only on reforms for the next years, and will start paying it for 22 years.
