Three days after the Municipal Council of Elbasan declared the emergency
situation for the environmental conditions of urban wastes, the
Minister of Environment, Lefter Koka, declared that the solution is
ready.
Invited in Top Channel’s morning show, Minister Koka underlined that within the next year, Elbasan will be the first city in Albania that will have an urban processing implant that will be able to produce energy.
“We have made all arrangements and spoke with the Elbasan Municipality and the Prime Minister. We have found the contracting firm and the implant will be ready within the next year. There will also be financial benefits for energy”, the Minister declared.
Minister Koka mentioned the air pollution in Tirana, a situation for which he blamed the urban traffic, builders and lack of green spaces. But he added that the territorial reform and a law that is currently in Parliament will change this situation.
On the international day without cars, Minister koka made an appeal to the Albanian society. He appealed them to be more sensitive about the environment, because it has a direct impact in our health.
