The Greek Foreign Minister, Nikos Kotzias, will visit Albania on June
6th and 7th, to meet his Albanian counterpart for the 8th time within
two years, which means that there is a mutual communication bridge
between the two countries. However, there are several cases that have
not been resolved. The War Law is one of them, together with the
properties of Albanians and the Cham case.
For the first time in an interview with Thimi Samarxhiu from Top Channel, the Albanian Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati, treats this matter in the same file with the matter of the Greek cemeteries.
“There are no conditions from Albania and Greece. There is true dialogue, propositions and studies about the best way how to address these problems Naturally, if we can speak about a red line, it is at the concept that we have invested for this process. This means that there will be mutual dialogue between two equal and responsible neighbors, NATO members who look at the mutual European future. Two neighbors who respect each other, respect the constitutional tradition and the models that inspire the international rights”, Bushati said.
Despite the unresolved matters, there is one issue that keeps all the others suspended.
“Although we divided them in three chapters, there are some cases that are related to each other. If we speak about the repealing of the War Law from Greece, it is related with the reviewing of history texts. It is also related with the matter of properties owned by Albanian citizens and the Albanian government in Greece. It is also related with the honoring of the Greek soldiers who died in Albanian territory, because we must end the issues related to the war before we can start the others issues. The repeal of the War Law has direct political and legan values, as well as the Cham case, which is a matter of basic human rights in full accordance with the international standards. This would serve to the trust climate between our countries”, Bushati added.
