In a school near the area of Spitalla in Durres, in central western Albania, voting was interrupted after a violent incident outside the center.

According to reports, after a fight between the supporters of the two main political forces in the corridor, the secretary representing the opposition “Bashke Fitojme” took the official seal of the ballot papers and left, which caused the voting to be interrupted for about 30 minutes.

Citizen Hekuran Markola from the ruling SP municipal council appeared at the Durrës Police Station, stating that while he was in the corridor of the Voting Center 1430-2, Durrës, was punched by Dritan Burgija, activist of PD Durrës, Pjeter Pjetri and Ndrec Pjetri.

“After the fight that happened in the corridor, people left out of fear, I didn’t leave but stayed in the frontyard of the building” – said the secretary.

The police surrounded the area to monitor and prevent further clashes between the parties as the quarrel was reported to have been fierce, with the parties punching each other in the face.
