The Albanian Volunteer Corpus, in cooperation with the Environment
Agency, continued the action for cleaning the Velipoja territory.
The operation of the volunteers focused in the Viluni Lagoon. Representatives of the civil society, part of the Volunteer Corpus, appealed from Velipoja that Albania cannot be anymore like this.
“We have been fighting for weeks against pollution in lakes, mountains, coastlines and fields. There is a very bad environmental situation everywhere. There is a lack of culture from the citizens, and a lack of attention from the government. We appeal the local and central governments to resolve this problem, because Albania cannot continue anymore like this”, declared Mentor Kikia, representative of the civil society.
“We feel it as our duty to be part of the initiative ‘Love Albania More’. It is our home. If we don’t take care about it, who will?”, declared Klara Margo, professor at the Tirana University.
The Swiss citizen, Claud Sauvaget, who lives in Albania for several years, joined the Volunteer Corpus and declared that these initiatives should raise awareness and attract the participation of the community.
Besides the Lagoon, the Volunteer Corpus has intervened by cleaning the coastline even in the main roads, by removing considerable amounts of waste.
