Volotea, a low-cost flight company, has left Albania due to high fees

The company based in Barcelona had been operating in Albania since December 2015, offering flights from Tirana to Verona and Venice.
Low-cost companies already have a low margin of profit, which is the reason why they don’t operate in airports where they have to pay higher fees.
The fees applied at the Tirana International Airport, due to a monopoly, have had a very negative effect to citizens, tourism and business.
The government has ordered a financial audit to see if the profits outside the scenario foreseen by the concessionary agreement.
