The TAP pipeline is the only chance to bring to life the Vlore
thermo-central. The 95 million investment made 10 years ago ailed due to
the high production cost of thermal energy.
The Albanian government says they will give it in concession to private operators even without making a feasibility study about turning its technology from oil to gas.
“We want to find a private operator who can undertake the investment and convert its supply, although its turbines work with both gas and oil”, said the Minister of Energy, Damian Gjiknuri.
The Albanian government is currently fighting at the International Court of Arbitration against an Italian company regarding the repairing of a technical problem with the cooling implant.
