Environment Inspectors have fined illegal mini-pier builders in the Vlore coastline.

The situation in this area was aggravated by the great number of mini-piers that have been constructed recently, with the builders dumping all inert materials into the sea. During a visit in Vlore, Environment Ministry leaders discussed about the coastline protection. Deputy Minister Taulant Bino was asked about the constructions that were built without permission.

“You should make this question to other institutions. I would suggest you that instead of asking the Ministry of Environment, you should also ask the Ministry of Public works, the Construction Inspectorate and Local Administration”, Bino declared.

The Regional Environmental Director, Geron Gunabardhi, showed the punitive measures that were given to mini-pier constructors, mainly fines.

Despite these fines, the illegal constructions are still going on and local authorities have not stopped them. No one of the violators has been criminally charged.
