The EU Ambassador to Tirana, Romana Vlahutin, said that the report has tried to see Albania’s progress as stable and positive.
She said that despite the fact that progress is clear in this report, more needs to be done in several areas, including improving the business climate.
The EU ambassador said that if this progress continues, it will bring the opening of new accession negotiations.
As for the analyze of this progress report, which the government sees with optimistic notes and the opposition with negative ones, Ambassador Vlahutin said it should be seen as an instrument that measures Albania’s progress to the EU, by not leaving space for political conflicts.
Certainly, the main condition and the most important one for this progress will be the justice reform, which has been seen as the most important step that Albania needs to take in its EU path. For this reason, Vlahutin says no one is untouchable and the rule of law should be equal for all citizens.
She added that countries that started the negotiations have more advanced justice reforms than Albania.
