The EU Ambassador, Romana Vlahutin, said the justice reform is as important as the student movement of 25 years ago.
Vlahutin suggested for more courage and said reforms will not stop, since they are the only way for Albania to become like Europe.
“People chanted 25 years ago that they wanted Albania like all Europe. This is the basis of the reform. 25 years ago it required a lot of courage to go on the streets and ask for freedom. More courage than what is needed today to realize this reform. Hence, there is no excuse for all of those who think that they can stop this process with arrogance, manipulation or aggressive lobbying”, Vlahutin said.
Vlahutin underlined that the reform is not being done against judges and prosecutors, but for judges and prosecutors, so that the rule of law and truth can be the only followed authority.
“This is the time for you generation to complete what started 25 years ago. Those efforts are not over yet. And don’t afraid, especially from those who think that are untouchable. No one is untouchable”, Vlahutin said.
The ambassador valued the meeting for informing the public, since in democracy, she said, dialogue is essential.
