The Tirana and Vllaznia football fans have been involved in a violent conflict today at the Loro Borici stadium in Shkoder.

A controversial penalty made the Tirana football fans angry, who then started throwing solid objects on the field and asking players to stop the match.

The situation seemed calm, but a goal from Tirana made the Vllaznia fans go outside and throw solid objects against the Tirana fans, who then entered the field to avoid being harmed.

The football field turned into a fighting arena, while police was unable to put the situation under control.

Sources say that one person has been stabbed, while five police officers have been hurt, two of whom with serious head injuries. Fortunately, none of them is in life threatening conditions. Six fans were also sent to hospital with head injuries.

The police was forced to fire warning shots in the air, but the fight continued outside the stadium. The police was forced to keep the Tirana fans inside the stadium for their protection.

State Police and Minister Nikolla react

After the incidents, the State Police announced that the situation was taken under control by the police. They promised to take measures for putting those who are responsible to justice, and added that the Tirana fans were accompanied by the Special Police.

The Minister of Education and Sports, Lindita Nikolla, declared that what happened in Shkoder is a shame for all Albanians. “Violence has nothing to do with football, that’s why urgent measures are needed without neglecting those responsible”, the Minister declared.

The Minister of Education said that this should never be repeated.
