Not more than 10 km from the city of Lushnja in central Albania is the village of Hajdare, a very picturesque place from which you can see the entire city in the palm of your hand, but which has been completely forgotten for decades by the officials.
Once this village counted over 500 families, now there are so few left that you can count them on the fingers of your hands.
Infrastructure in this village has always been lacking. There are no roads, no schools and the water that goes to the homes of the locals cannot be used. The last investment made in this village is this road that stopped at the entrance to the village.
To go inland you will have to face potholes, mud and slippery roads. Faced with these conditions all their lives, many families have left, abandoning their homes which are now on the verge of collapse.
The Municipality of Lushnja says that this year’s budget foresees interventions in the infrastructure of the village of Hajdare, but until this intervention is finalized, residents only remember unfulfilled promises.
