Mathew Palmer, Director for South Central European Affairs at U.S.
Department of State, met with Albanian political leaders today, focusing
their discussions on the implementation of the Vetting Law.
He met initially with the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, who later wrote on Facebook that he was promised that the new administration will insist on the Vetting Law.
Palmer then met with the opposition leader, Lulzim Basha. The Democratic Party leader expressed his concerns regarding the situation of crime, corruption and drugs.
Basha expressed his support for the Justice Reform and added that Albania needs a justice system independent from the government.
The Democratic Party press office announced that Palmer stated that the US are following the developments in Albania very closely.
