The single day visit of the Greek Deputy Prime Minister and also Foreign
Minister, Evangelos Venizellos, has been commented with positive tones
from the local press. This is the first time that Greek newspapers don’t
come out with negative comments about the requests made by official
Tirana, but they underline the determination of Athens to resolve every
problem through talks.
The daily “Te Nea” says that the Albanian Prime Minister has expressed the will of the Albanian government to give a new dimension to the cooperation between the two countries, based on the friendship spirit and common goals.
On the same line was the declaration of the Greek diplomat for the support that Athens will give to official Tirana in the EU path.
To Vima also mentions the declaration of the Albanian Foreign Minister for removing the Law of War and the recognition of the Cham properties, and the answer of his Greek homologue for the existence of the Pact of Friendship and Cooperation, and for the signing of a peace verdict between the two countries in 1987, and the right to go at the Strasbourg Court of Human Rights.
To Ethnos comments the cooperation for resolving the pending problems, as the main focus of the conversation between the two diplomats.
Kathimerini, besides the Memorandum of Friendship, which is important for the mutual contacts, says that the Joint Commission for the Military Cemetery will start soon, together with other political and technical commissions between the two countries.
However, some internet websites have commented negatively about the Cham Resolution project on the official bulletin of the Albanian government, two days before the visit of the Greek delegation, saying that the stance of Greece is changing by adapting to the requests of America.
