Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke about the proposition of EU Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi, who asks the Assembly to wait for the opinion of the Venice Commission before re-voting the amendments to the Electoral Code.
Rama writes that the opinion of the commissioner is welcome, but despite this, the Parliament will decide as soon as possible.
Rama further called President Meta “an extremist against the Albanian Parliament and Government”.
He further writes: “Meta can not take hostage anyone and anything except the institution that has unfortunately taken hostage! The Venice’s opinion is welcome when it comes, but the time for these elections does not wait for a single day outside the procedures”, Prime Minister Rama on Twitter.
“The opinion of Venice is always welcome, but for a law voted and rejected by the President, the procedure is clear: The refusal of the President is accepted or rejected by parliament! Parliament will be re-expressed without missing a single day!”, he added.
