The Minister of Justice, Ylli Manjani, said on Facebook that the law for
treating properties has passed with success at the Venice Commission.

Manjani said he regrets the law had not beem finalized earlier, even in 1991. However, he adds: “Better late than never”.

The law was returned in Parliament by the President after it was issued by the Government this January. The government voted it again, and the President claimed it was a violation of the constitution and market economy. With the support of the opposition Parliament Members, the law was sent to the Constitutional Court, which asked an opinion from the Venice Commission.

This Commission decided that the law is in full accordance with the European Convention of Human Rights. Manjani said in his message that the Court now has to accept the opinion and make it part of their verdict.
