The Municipality of Tirana completing the building of embankments for 8 kilometers along the Tirana River, while work is undergoing to create green areas by its sides.
The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, inspected the works and said that the Bregu Lumit area didn’t have floods during the heavy rains thanks to the works.
“We are doing something today that two years ago seemed like a luxury. We are building a park along the river, 4000 trees and 40,000 decorative bushes, and a jogging lane. The River now is within its bed and the sewage water goes to its collector, no longer in the river”, Veliaj said.
The Mayor added that rather than destruction, the river is now bringing development and civilization with its park, trees and jogging lanes.
“This work goes to the other generations as well. We saved Tirana from floods, and we gave this area a higher property value”, Veliaj declared.
