The Day of Europe in Tirana was celebrated with the inauguration of the “Europe Park”.
Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj, accompanied by ambassadors of EU member countries, by the General Director for Enlargement at the European Commission, Christian DAnielsson, and by the EU Ambassador to Tirana, Romana Vlahutin, planted trees today at the new park, behind the Skanderbeg Square, bringing a piece of Europe in the heart of Tirana.
Veliaj said in his opening speech that this park represents the European ambition of Albanians: “The reason why this is called Europa Park, is because it is close to the Skanderbeg square because our European ambition has been present since the Skanderbeg era. Even from the urban point of view, it is a nice metaphor because we have the fun and the noise at the square, but we can have the quiet and the order here at the Europa Park”, Veliaj declared.
Later Veliaj met with Mr.Danielsson, to whom he gave the City’s Key after discussing new possible cooperation projects for improving Albania’s capital.
