Veliaj presents program for women

The candidate of the majority for the Tirana Municipality, Erion Veliaj,
presented this Friday at the Palace of Sports “Asllan Rusi”, his
program for girls and women. Veliaj said that his program mentions
women in every paragraph.

“We are running for topics that are discussed in every family of Tirana, which do not speak about revolutions, but about the terms that any woman and girl in our city has in mind. We talk about daycare centers, schools, about mothers taking their children to these institutions”, Veliaj declared.

The candidate of the majority said that for the first time there will be more men than women in the council of Tirana. He added that this emancipation will continue throughout Albania.

Present in this meeting were the leaders of the majority, Edi Rama and Ilir Meta.

“We are proud that we took a historic decision in Parliament, by granting equality to municipal councils. I am convinced that this is not the first and only step for gender equality. I heard that women are as able as men. I am convinced they are even more”, Meta declared.

The Albanian Prime Minister promised to keep supporting women and increase their representation in the main government institutions. Rama said that his government in these 18 months has worked in this direction, turning into one of the governments with the highest presence of women in Europe.
