A new era of cooperation has started between Tirana and Athens.

Mayor Erion Veliaj held a two-day visit to the Greek capital, where he was received by his counterpart, Yiorgos Kaminis.

The two Mayors agreed to take the cooperation to another level by exchanging experiences and improving services for citizens.

They decided to sign a cooperation protocol in Tirana and underlined the desire between both municipalities to make concrete cooperation in the future.

“Veliaj has been serving to his city with dynamism and enthusiasm for years now, with the purpose to transform Tirana into a modern city that can confront its problems with efficiency and with its eyes to the future. It is what we are also doing in Athens during our mandate, that’s why the desire for cooperation in the next years is understandable”, Kaminis said.

The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, thanked the Greek counterpart and said that this visit marks the start of a successful cooperation between Greece and Albania. “I am happy for this new spirit of cooperation between our states, to finally resolve many problems that have been carried upon. Despite the political convictions, at the end of the day people want the bus to arrive on time, waste to be managed, green spaces, functional schools and sportive terrains. This is why I think we have a lot to learn from Athens”, Veliaj said.
