Tirana will host the 17+1 Summit, an initiative of the Chinese government to increase cooperation with Southeastern European countries as regards investments in transportation, education and culture.
The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, was received by his counterpart in an official visit in Beijing.
“We had 24 intensive hours in Beijing and Tirana, Albania, is now chosen as the hosting country for the cooperation process with China, which, with the addition of Greece, is now called China 17 +. I am happy that in this meeting with the Mayor of the world’s biggest city, Beijing, we could discuss the points for the organization of this great summit in Tirana, which is a privilege for us”, Veliaj said.
