The massive usage of bicycles in Tirana is expected to bring a radical change on the commuting of citizens in Tirana, all thanks to the dedicated bike lanes and 4000 Mobike bicycles that can be used through smart-phones.
Invited at the conference “Intelligent Urban Cities and Efficient Energy Industries 2018”, Veliaj said that by 2030, 50% of the transportation in Tirana will be with bicycles.
“Today, this is 6%. One year ago it was 3%. This means that although numbers are modest, we will keep doubling those figures, also thanks to technological novelties, which will help us turn into a mini-Copenhagen”, Veliaj said.
Tirana is the first city in Balkan which has the station-less bike-sharing system “Mobike”.
